Shhh...she moves on silent wings. She hoots in the night.
And if you're luck, you can catch a glimpse of this silent goddess in the trees at night, staring back with luminous eyes of experience and wisdom.
This painting is inspired by the Raptor Center of Minnesota. The new community outreach program. The name of this owl is actually Bubo (yes, he's actually a boy but Great Horned Owls don't have sexual dimorphism so just ignore that part). He is named for the familiar of Athena in the movie Clash of the Titans. While otherwise healthy, this owl was fed by humans after falling from a tree...and thus became a pet that cannot survive in the wild. If you find a bird, call your local raptor or bird center. Do not try to take care of it yourself because they really may start thinking you're their parent.
